The Body Percussion Workshop encourages participants to use their own bodies as
musical instruments: hands, feet, chest, breath sounds, and steps. Through simple,
repetitive rhythmic play, participants will build sound patterns together, listening to
each other, and responding to each other.
This workshop is designed to be inclusive for children and adults, with no specific
technical or musical requirements. Rhythms are built from basic clapping, stomping,
tapping, and humming movements, which are then arranged into small collective
compositions.
In addition to developing body and auditory sensitivity, this workshop creates a space
for togetherness across ages: everyone is equal, every body can make sound. The
practices are easy to take home and can be a fun, spontaneous, and energetic family
activity.
