Are you curious about creating performing arts that transcend traditional boundaries and reach neurodiverse audiences? This workshop introduces the Spektrakular model, a specialized approach to creating inclusive, high-quality art for children and youth with disabilities.
In this session, we will explore how to build Spektrakular artistic productions using both creative and organizational tools. We move away from text-heavy performance and focus instead on the sensory language of the room: transformation, light, sound, smell, and the tactile quality of materials.
Participants will explore:
● The Power of the Room: How to create safe, less-verbal spaces that communicate how to “be” in the art without using a lot of words.
● Sensory Materials: Working with textiles, objects, and cross-disciplinary elements to spark wonder and play.
● The Art of the Encounter: Developing sensitivity and presence when meeting audiences who communicate in different ways.
● Case Study – Helix: We will look closely at the production “Helix – the hanging garden,” using photos and video to discuss how to balance a professional artistic vision with the freedom for audience interaction.
Whether you have a specific project in mind or are simply curious about inclusive practices, this workshop offers concrete tools to help you create art that is both inviting and Spektrakular.
