Wanderlust Mongolia Festival
Across Mongolia, 1.3 million children are growing up, and more than 60% of them live in rural areas. However, children in the countryside have limited access to professional theater productions and opportunities to receive education in stage arts. The Wanderlust project was created to meet this need, ensuring that children can enjoy their right to artistic education. We are delighted to announce that the festival will be organized for the first time this year, for the benefit of Mongolian children and artists alike.
The project was selected as one of the best initiatives under the “Regional Collaboration Program” announced by ASSITEJ International (International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People), successfully securing the first stage of funding.
Main Goals of the Wanderlust Project:
- Bring theater arts to children in rural and remote areas.
- Enable artists to engage in cross-border partnerships, creative collaborations, and cultural exchanges in the field of theater for children and youth.
- Encourage policymakers to prioritize this sector at the policy level.
- Raise public awareness of how theater contributes to children’s development and growth.
- Since the festival is being implemented under the theme “The Role of Theatre for Children and Youth in Climate Change”, it will also feature eco-friendly travel initiatives, as well as a variety of events, workshops, and training sessions on climate change.
